Next weekend Badalona will be the site of European Performance Science Night 2021, an activity within the framework of the European Researchers' Night, financed by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) has joined forces with one of the projects within this initiative led by the Épica Foundation La Fura dels Baus (a world-famous Catalan theatre company), with the aim of bringing science to the citizen and motivating young people to take up scientific careers
The Friends of Can Ruti (Amics de Can Ruti) have launched a new website to showcase the research on the Can Ruti Campus and attract donations to support research projects and healthcare services. Since 20217 the Friends of Can Ruti have been accompanying the growth of the campus and explaining the day to day of the hospital and the research institutes to the local community.
ECOMASC (Eco-masks) is playing its part in the battle against COVID-19. On 9 December the Moda Dstil shops of Catalonia presented a cheque for 6,250 euros to the Germans Trias I Pujol Research Institute (IGTP). ECOMASC has not only helped to prevent the propagation of the virus with its masks, but it has also made a generous gesture so that research can continue to look for solutions to COVID-19.
The staff of the company Innospec have donated their Silver Corporate Safety Award to the research effort to find a treatment for Friedreich's ataxia, a project led by Dr Antonio Matilla and Dr Ivelisse Sánchez of the Neurogenetics Group at the IGTP.

On Friday 8 November the first of the series of popular science talks organized by the Friends of Can Ruti (Amics de Can Ruti) took place in the Joan Coromines Library in Masnou and the Sant Andreu Library in Llavaneres. This is the second series of informative talks and once again they are inspired by the topic of this year's TV3 Marathon, which is rare diseases. Professionals from the IGTP and the Germans Trias Hospital are taking part.
