Financing for a Germans Trias i Pujol project in the third edition of the PERIS call

The Ministry of Health presented the grants for the 2018 and 2019 calls of the Strategic Plan for Innovation in Health (PERIS) on Tuesday. In this year's round the Germans Trias neurologist Natalia Pérez de la Ossa received a grant for the project for pre-hospitalization healthcare for patients with acute stroke. The doctor Daniel Fuster was also awarded a grant for the second edition, which he received at the same ceremony.

The first Pep Anglès charity golf tournament for childhood diabetes Research at Can Ruti

This Thursday the Llavaneres Golf Club hosted the 1st Pep Anglès Golf Tournament, a charity event for the Amics de Can Ruti (Friends of Can Ruti) and research at the IGTP. It is the first edition of the fundraising event organized by the player and his club and more than 10,000 euros have been raised for research into childhood diabetes at Can Ruti.

In a brand new format, scientists come together to share and discuss research on the Can Ruti Campus in the First IGTP PI Retreat

Principal investigators from the nine areas of research on the Can Ruti Campus met together to discuss topics of concern in the current research environment. During the day, researchers enjoyed inputs from the IGTP research community and external speakers and were able to take advantage of the many moments available for networking and sharing.

The IGTP Biobank renews its European certification from the Biorepository Proficiency Testing Program

This is the third round of evaluations the IGTP-HGTP Biobank has undertaken to ensure and certify the quality of its services.  The Biorepository Proficiency Testing Program is a voluntary external evaluation programme, with members from several countries. Once again, the IGTP-HTP Biobank has been awarded the certificate, opting to apply every two years.

A new tool that makes it possible to adapt treatment for patients with cardiogenic shock has been discovered

Cardiogenic shock is a possible complication of serious heart attack involving an associated mortality rate of approximately 50% of all cases. The combination of this new tool with existing methods renders precise and patient-specific decision-making possible. The research is being led by Dr. Antoni Bayés at Germans Trias and the Proteomics Unit of the CRG and UPF, under Dr. Eduard Sabidó

Manremyc opens a funding round of 250,000 euros through the Capital Cell platform

Manremyc, a spin-off of the IGTP specialised in the development of a probiotic against tuberculosis, has opened a funding round through Capital Cell, the first on-line investment platform in Europe specialized in biomedicine. The objective of the campaign is to reach 250,000 euros, with a minimum investment requirement per person of only 600 euros. Up to now, the company has secured 35% of the investment, which includes participation from the Reig family, main shareholders in the pharmaceutical company Reig Jofre.

Miguel A Peinado has been appointed as new coordinator of the PMPPC

The Program for Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (PMPPC) was an initiative of Manuel Perucho and Manel Puig and resulted from the reorganization of the Can Ruti Campus research structure promoted by the Catalan Government in 2014. Dr. Perucho directed the program until March 2019.

Mireia Belmonte presents her new watch in support of Campus Can Ruti

Mireia Belmonte the Olympic swimming medallist from Badalona visited the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) on Campus Can Ruti on Wednesday 29 May. The event marked the start of a collaboration in support of the Amics de Can Ruti (Friends of Can Ruti) to raise awareness of the importance of health research. During her visit, she presented a watch, which she helped to design, that will soon be available through the web and events organized by the Amics de Can Ruti. All proceeds from the sales of the watch will go to research projects on the campus.

The IGTP participates in the debates of the 11th Research Workshop of the ICS: childhood obesity and rare diseases

Experts in paediatric research agree on the need to anticipate and act on obesity from childhood. The importance of early interventions to prevent obesity and excess weight and research into rare diseases have been the main topics of the 11^th Research Workshop of the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS), which took place at the Seminari de Tarragona (Centre Tarraconense).

The first series of Can Ruti Biomedical Research Seminars has been a great success. The seminars have been organized jointly by the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute, IrsiCaixa, AIDS Research Institute, and sponsored by AstraZeneca and Celgene.
