La Marató Foundation funds two IGTP projects on sexual and reproductive health research

The IGTP is leading an innovative project on youth sexual health and participating in a second project funded by La Marató 2023, which has enabled the promotion of 26 research projects on sexual and reproductive health, led by 52 research teams. Yesterday, these teams received their awards at an event held at TV3. Of the funded projects, 10 are individual, and 16 are coordinated between two or more research centres.

GCAT joins the CORDELIA consortium to create the largest cardiovascular genetic study in southern Europe

The participation of the GCAT|Genomes For Life cohort in the CORDELIA consortium represents a strategic step to enhance and expand the impact of population research on the IGTP campus. This collaboration is part of the transversal CORE program, aimed at fostering innovative and translational research, implementing new knowledge in clinical practice, and improving population health.

The IGTP directors participate in the The Gate Pro Festival to explore synergies between art, science, technology, and society

Jordi Barretina, director of the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), and Júlia Garcia, scientific director, participated in The Gate Pro sessions at The Gate festival, organised by the Èpica Foundation of La Fura dels Baus, held on 28 and 29 October at its venue at the Port of Badalona. The event brought together experts from diverse fields, including supercomputing, philosophy, and health research, to discuss key topics like health, education, and technology.

Menarini and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute sign an agreement to promote research projects

The organisations are collaborating on two studies in the field of severe Legionella infections and antibiotic resistance. Both projects have been presented by IGTP researchers within the framework of the "Scientific exchanges: join us" program, an initiative by Menarini to share progress and strengthen partnerships in research.

The European Innovation Council provides €3 million in funding for a project with IGTP involvement

The European Commission has granted €2,999,101 in funding to the NanoBiCar project, coordinated by Universitat Politècnica de València, with the participation of the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP). The grant falls within the EIC Pathfinder Program of the European Innovation Council (EIC), a highly competitive program aimed at identifying, developing, and scaling up breakthrough technologies and disruptive innovations.

Keeping a longer overnight fast and eating an early breakfast may be associated with a lower body mass index

To keep weight in check, it is not only important to consider what we eat, but also the times at which we eat. According to a study published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, there are two specific habits that are associated with a lower body mass index (BMI) in the long term: keeping a longer overnight fast and eating breakfast early. This research was led by ISGlobal and was carried out in collaboration with the GCAT cohort from IGTP.
