The iCor team at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital and Research Institute is the first in Spain to enrol a patient in the international EASY-AS study, a clinical trial to evaluate whether intervening before the first symptoms of severe aortic stenosis appear can improve clinical outcomes.
A team of researchers from the IGTP has taken a step forward in understanding the complex structure of heart scars that form after a myocardial infarction. Using a porcine model, the group found an association between specific electrical patterns and structural characteristics of the scar, offering a new approach that may guide more targeted and effective treatments for arrhythmias. The results have been published in the journal Heart Rhythm.

Once again, the names of around thirty renowned professionals - from the Hospital and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), the Fight Infections Foundation, IrsiCaixa, the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), and the Institut Català d'Oncologia (ICO) - appear on a global list of scientists who have achieved the highest impact through their publications and citations.
IGTP has received grants for six research projects in two calls from the Spanish Research Agency, under the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2021-2023.
A new study, published in New England Journal of Medicine, has demonstrated the benefits of placing a clip on the valve instead of the usual medical treatment. The study includes the participation of Professor Antoni Bayés-Genís, principal investigator of the ICREC group and Director of the Heart Institute at Germans Trias Hospital.
