Biobank’s role
At Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol, as in most hospitals, scientific research is conducted in addition to healthcare duties.
Biological samples from donors will become part of the hospital's biobank: the IGTP-HUGTP's Biobank. A biobank is a site where blood samples, tissue samples and DNA samples, among others, are stored. The biobank represents an essential tool for the research of diseases, and allows to advance the development of new therapies, treatments and diagnostic tests. The bank where your samples will be stored is located at Carretera de Canyet s/n, Badalona, is duly authorized and fulfils the safety and quality requirements of the current law.
Any research study requesting the use of this data or samples shall always be approved by the Biobank's Ethics Committee, which ensures that, at all times, the researchers conduct their studies according to the most stringent ethical and legal requirements, and by a Scientific Committee with expertise in biomedical research.
You may execute at any time your rights regarding the processing of your personal data, and also obtain information concerning the use of your samples, by submitting an enquiry to the biobank:
